Distribution Center Operations Manager

As a leader in in their industry, they stay at the forefront of industry advancements keeping up with the latest processes and technologies. This includes supporting emerging markets like wind and alternative energy sources to provide customers with the raw materials and production supplies they need to succeed.
As a DC Operations Manger you will be responsible for the managerial oversight of the site’s operational function including customer service, safety/risk management, receiving, transportation, warehousing, equipment/building maintenance/repair operations and office/business administration tasks.
Position Description:
- Support, manage and analyze DC customer service functions to continuously improve all levels of customer satisfaction
- Serve as liaison between the Customer Service, Warehouse and Sales Team to resolve issues and maintain focus on the customer
- Analyze and manage warehouse and delivery functions to continuously improve the efficiency levels and safety
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the DC to achieve specific operating income and ROA goals
- Monitor and approve all freight transactions, including review of freight adders on a semi-annual basis in partnership with Supply Chain Managers
- Develop systems, processes and procedures to optimize equipment and related resources, including effective material movement and logistics, while delivering value to our customers
- Review monthly financial statements and investigates variances against budget; identifies areas for improvement in efficiency and cost reductions
- Implement best practices as they relate to manufactured goods such as slitting, material repackaging and quick tint operations
- Monitor and evaluate expectations and performance of DC staff through coaching and development opportunities
- Facilitate the hiring process of DC staff and long term planning for staffing requirements
- Provide motivational and developmental leadership to DC staff on a daily basis; conduct semi-annual performance reviews for direct reports
- Establish performance objectives and training plans; conducts strategic planning for the facility
- Create a safe and compliant work environment by providing adequate safety training; conduct monthly safety meetings and complete training as determined by HSE

Background Required:
- A minimum of two or more years of experience with purchasing/inventory management in a sales/distribution environment, including experience in supply chain, distribution, warehouse and/or logistics sectors.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials.
- General understanding of standard Supply Chain management processes related to inventory management and procurement
- Basic understanding of transportation and logistics and associated safety and documentation requirements, and the distribution process work flow.
- Ability to conduct studies, analyze and interpret statistical data, and make recommendations and decisions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency using MS Office software to effectively execute work tasks, including Excel and Word; ability to learn internal database and software systems.
