Position Description:
The Sr. Manager, Global Trade Compliance (EMEA/APAC) is one of the key players on the Global Trade Compliance team. The primary focus of this role will be developing and maintaining the Global Trade Compliance Program for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions. The Sr. Manager, Global Trade Compliance (EMEA/APAC) needs to demonstrate background in continuous improvement for international trade processes and outcomes, trade data management, creating internal control programs, assessing risk, closing gaps in the import/export processes, and analysis to continuously improve processes. This position also required to have strong knowledge of trade policy and global trends awareness; trade law/regulatory technical acumen, and export controls laws and regulations (ex. Sanctions). This role will work directly with the Global Trade Director, the Global Trade Manager for North America and Latin American, and the Global Trade Sr. Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the Import and Export Controls Program in the EMEA and APAC regions.
- Guides and supports implementation of the trade systems and internal control applications.
- Creates formal policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions (standard work).
- Communicates with the relevant government agencies as the first point of contact.
- Monitors and maintains trade compliance data elements by collaborating with IT and other departments.
- Leads the import process and set up continuous improvement related to export controls, customs broker management, management of HTS, Country of Origin (“COO”), and Customs valuation.
- Experience in qualifying products under Free Trade Agreements.
- Identifies procedural gaps and areas of improvement and opportunity in import or export processes.
- Manages day-to-day compliance issues, provides guidance, and supports related projects in the EMEA region and supports the APAC questions, as needed.
- Trains associates on all trade compliance topics.
- Leads communication with the government agencies responsible for cross-border transactions, import, and export controls in the EMEA region.
- Defines, implements, and conducts trade compliance audits, ensuring corrective action processes are addressed according to applicable regulations.
- Leads operational process controls through KPIs, regular activity, and training with Product Management, Logistics, Sales, Procurement, Sourcing, Finance, Security, Marketing, and Distribution to keep the company compliant with trade regulations in EMEA.
- Maintains Export Licensing, Agreements, and Authorizations of government approvals in EMEA.
- Leads the research and stays abreast of the changes in the monitored countries, restricted parties, restricted end-use, and destination export control concerns.
- Support with M&A and Integration projects.
- Manages EMEA/APAC Global Trade Budget.
Background Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Law, Engineering, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Analysis, or directly related field.
- 8+ years of experience in import/export transactions, with at least five (“5”) years of direct experience in export controls. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Systems integration and implementation experience.
- Project management experience.
- Advanced level in PowerPoint presentation and MS Excel, including, but not limited to V-look up, macros, formula, pivot table, and visualization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with deadlines, and able to make sound and timely business decisions.
- Fluent in English and German (required).
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation (required).
- Knowledge of Oracle, SAP (preferred).
- Medical Device experience (preferred).
